John Collyer, Chief of the Bridgewater Police Department, received the Minster’s Award for Leadership in Crime Prevention. He has been an In School Mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters and a volunteer facilitator for the South Shore Community Justice Society for ten years.Chief Collyer is Treasurer of the Nova Scotia Chiefs of Police Association, Board Member of 211NS, and a member of the Leadership Circle for South Shore Safe Communities. He represents the NSCPA on three provincial committees. He received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Police Exemplary Service Medal, and the Nova Scotia Police Long Service Medal.
