Derek has worked at Chebucto Connections as a Student Parent Support Worker for the Pathways to Education program since September 2013. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Saint Mary's University and a Bachelor of Education degree from Mount Saint Vincent University. During his education degree Derek began volunteering with the Pathways Program. He left Halifax to teach math in England for 2 years before returning to Canada to work with Pathways. He is passionate about his work with Greater Spryfield young people and has been part of the work with boys and girls groups from the beginning. He sincerely enjoys facilitating the boys groups in junior high Healthy Living classes and values the opportunities it creates to troubleshoot issues and enhance resilience in young people.
