My name is Angelique Nevarez Maes; I am a second year PhD student at Texas A&M University. I have a Master of Art’s degree that specializes in Sociology from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Bachelor of Art’s degree the specializes in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso as well. I am interested in Crime and the Life Course, and how Resiliency developed outside the parent/child relationship (through kin family members and peers) can assist in an individuals’ desistence or recidivism in criminal activities throughout their lives.
