Leigh Blaney

Leigh Blaney is a professor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Vancouver Island University with teaching responsibilities focused on undergraduate education in mental health, healing, and inter-professional communication. Leigh is the clinical coordinator of the Archipelago Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Society and has 20 years experience working with fire rescue and other emergency/disaster services. Leigh has researched, developed, and evaluated CISM programs in emergency service, business, and disaster organisations globally; current research focuses on cross-cultural experiences of resilience in firefighters. Areas of interest and expertise are stress, compassion fatigue, health promotion, coping, capacity-building and resilience.
