Kathryn H. Howell, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis. Dr. Howell is best known for her intervention work with women and children coping with violence and other adversities, including evaluation of the Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment Program, one of the few evidence-based practices for families exposed to intimate partner violence. Her work on resilience focuses on pathways to improving children’s social competence and emotion regulation. She is author or co-author of more than 60 scholarly publications and currently serves as Senior Consulting Editor for the APA journal, Psychology of Violence. She is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the Early Career Award for Contributions to Practice in Child Maltreatment from the American Psychological Association. Dr. Howell is a licensed psychologist with health service provider designation in the state of Tennessee.
