Julie Tippens

Julie A. Tippens, MA, MPH is a doctor of public health candidate at the University of Arizona, where she is also pursuing a doctoral minor and graduate certificate in medical anthropology. Her research lends anthropological insight into issues of forced migration and refugee psychosocial wellbeing, and she is particularly passionate about identifying community-based strategies that foster resilience and healing in post-conflict settings. Julie has worked with refugees and asylum seekers in many capacities, including her work with Physicians for Human Rights. Her dissertation research with Congolese refugees in Kenya was funded by the U.S. Institute of International Education’s Boren Fellowship.
