Dr. Hariclia Petrakos is an associate professor in the Department of Education at Concordia University and a member of the Centre of Research in Human Development (Concordia) and the Transcultural Research Intervention Team (McGill). She worked for a number of years as a school psychologist at Lester B. Pearson School Board with the Family and School  Support and Treatment Team. Her current research and teaching interests focus on school transition practices that foster inclusion and success in children with special needs; children's and families' perspectives of school difficulties and family-school interactions; and contextual and cultural interpretations of special needs
